Design Challenge: This kitchen was a part of a whole house remodel in which all rooms were

affected. The existing kitchen was not adjacent to the garage entrance and one had to cross the

living room to enter it. The client wanted an open plan along with a list of specific features, all of

which we accommodated.

Solution: The logical place for the new kitchen was to create it in the remodeled breezeway

between the house and the garage. The owner really wanted built in seating with concealed

additional storage to match the cabinets and a place where good friends could linger over

coffee and grandkids could sketch their latest masterpiece! A retractable TV was also concealed

behind cabinet doors allowing the TV to be viewed by the cook behind the island or from the

bench seating.
