When our forced air furnace stopped functioning, we got one estimate for over $12,000 to replace the furnace and ducts. But then learned about the Energy Upgrade California Program and got referred to CK Builders. The intent of the program is to encourage participants to improve the efficiency of their home in all respects, and the participant receives a rebate based on the percentage of improvement proven. Their Energy Division Manager gave us the straight story and found that we did not actually need a new furnace but we got new ducting and a more cost-effective package of repairs that significantly increased our home’s efficiency, comfort and air quality. It was just “really good karma”. Their project manager, Bruce, “held our hands,” and walked us through every step with much expertise, but even more important, with much patience. Not only did we qualify for $3700 in rebates, but we are incredibly pleased with the outcome. Our home has never been warmer or more comfortable. We feel safer in our home because all the asbestos in our attic was removed by a hazmat crew. It is so much more efficient! All the work was done in a most professional manner from scheduling the work to meet our convenience, to the details of matching paint where the registers were removed. When we needed other professionals for work outside the scope of the energy upgrades, CK gave us the names of reliable subcontractors, and we were also extremely pleased with the quality and fairness of their work as well.
